PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: July 1, 2026
This privacy policy explains how Chef AI: Smart Kitchen ("App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App ("Services"). Please read it carefully to understand your rights and choices regarding your privacy.
If you do not agree with our practices, please refrain from using our Services. If you have any questions or concerns, contact us at khoald2302.ai@gmail.com.
SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS
Here is a quick overview of our privacy practices:
- NO ADVERTISING, NO TRACKING. We do not show third-party ads, we do not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- AI FEATURES. When you use AI-powered features, the content you provide — text you type, transcribed voice input, and food photos you choose to scan — is sent to our AI providers, OpenAI and Magichour, for processing, only after you give explicit in-app consent.
- HEALTH DATA. With your permission, the App reads selected data from Apple Health (body weight, active energy, and workouts) and writes the calories you log back to Apple Health. Health data stays on your device and is never sent to our AI providers, our servers, or any third party.
- ANALYTICS & DIAGNOSTICS. We use Google Firebase to collect usage analytics (which features and screens you use) and crash/performance diagnostics so we can improve and stabilize the App. This includes basic usage data and app-generated identifiers. It is never used for third-party advertising or for tracking you across other companies' apps or websites.
- ON-DEVICE DATA. Your pantry, recipes, meal plans, and profile preferences are stored locally on your device.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
We collect only the information needed to provide the App's features:
- User Content sent to AI providers (with your consent): When you use AI-powered features, the following content is sent to our third-party AI providers for processing:
- Text you type (such as ingredients, recipe requests, and chat messages) and transcribed audio from voice input — sent to OpenAI.
- Food photos you choose to scan for calorie estimation — sent to OpenAI (vision).
- Text extracted on your device from receipts you scan — sent to OpenAI. The receipt image itself is processed on your device and is not uploaded.
- A text description of a recipe, used to generate a recipe thumbnail image — sent to Magichour. No photos or personal data are sent to Magichour.
This content is sent only after you provide explicit consent through the in-app consent screen. We do not store this content on our servers; our providers process it transiently and return the result to your device.
- Health & Fitness Data (with your permission): If you enable Apple Health integration, the App reads your body weight, active energy burned, and workout data, and writes the dietary energy (calories) you log back to Apple Health. See Section 4 for how this data is handled.
- Usage & Analytics Data: We collect app usage data through Firebase Analytics — such as which features and screens you use, in-app events, session and usage information, device model, OS version, and app-generated identifiers (including a Firebase installation/instance identifier and an app-set user identifier). This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it. It is not used for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
- Diagnostics: We collect crash reports and performance data through Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs in the App.
- On-Device App Data: Your pantry items, saved recipes, meal plans, cooking history, and profile preferences are stored locally on your device.
What we do NOT collect: We do not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA), precise or coarse location, your contacts, or your browsing activity on other apps and websites.
2. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?
We process your information for the following purposes:
- To provide the App's core features — generating recipes, meal plans, grocery lists, calorie estimates, and cooking guidance.
- To provide AI-powered features — we send the content described in Section 1 to OpenAI and Magichour to generate AI responses and recipe images, only after you grant consent.
- To integrate with Apple Health — to show your nutrition and activity insights and to log the meals you record.
- To understand usage and improve the App — using analytics about which features and screens are used.
- To fix bugs and improve stability — using crash and performance diagnostics.
We do not process your information for advertising or cross-app tracking.
3. WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON?
We process your personal information only when we have a valid legal reason to do so. For AI features and Apple Health access, we rely on your explicit consent, which you grant in the App and can withdraw at any time (see Section 7). For diagnostics and for providing the Services, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the App.
4. APPLE HEALTH (HEALTHKIT) DATA
If you choose to connect Apple Health, the App accesses Health data solely to power in-app features:
- Data we read: body weight, active energy burned, and workouts — used to personalize nutrition targets, show your progress, and offer post-workout meal suggestions.
- Data we write: dietary energy (the calories you log in the App), written back to Apple Health with your permission.
Health data is stored on your device by Apple Health. We never send your Health data to OpenAI, Magichour, our servers, advertisers, or any other third party. We do not use Health data for advertising or any data-mining purpose. You can review or revoke the App's Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Chef AI.
5. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION?
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the App's features:
- OpenAI — processes the text, transcribed voice, and food photos you submit to AI features. Data is handled in accordance with OpenAI's privacy policy (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). Shared only with your explicit in-app consent.
- Magichour — generates recipe images from a text description of a recipe. Data is handled in accordance with Magichour's privacy policy (magichour.ai). Shared only with your explicit in-app consent.
- Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — receives app usage analytics and crash/performance diagnostics, including usage data and app-generated identifiers. Used only to operate, analyze, and improve the App — never for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Data is handled in accordance with Google's privacy policy (firebase.google.com/support/privacy).
- Legal & Business Transfers — we may disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
6. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
App data (pantry, recipes, meal plans, profile) remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Content sent to AI providers is processed transiently and is not retained on our servers. Diagnostic data is retained according to the provider's standard retention period.
7. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Within the App you can:
- Withdraw AI consent at any time in Settings → Chef AI. After withdrawal, no further content is sent to OpenAI or Magichour.
- Revoke Apple Health access in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Chef AI.
- Clear all app data using Settings → Clear All Data, or by deleting the App.
To make any other request, contact us at khoald2302.ai@gmail.com.
8. TRACKING AND iOS APP TRACKING TRANSPARENCY
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use the App Tracking Transparency framework to request tracking permission, because we do not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not use your data for cross-app tracking.
9. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 18 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18, or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to that minor's use of the Services. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by a revised "Last updated" date and will be effective as soon as it is accessible.
11. HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?
If you have questions or comments about this notice, you may email us at khoald2302.ai@gmail.com.
